History

chucks brother angelos put out a cassette by no marching parades. This was rob fuller and rob fry. Fuller went on to be in Act of Faith, and Ex members of while being involved with standfast. Rob Fry is a fresh fellow that plays music, rides a motorcycle, and jumps fences. Chuck would go to the freight room in downtown decatur to hear them play with old men that really could play blue grass. Most those old men are dead by now. The indigo girls would hang out here. There were not quite superstars yet.

then angelos put out an act of faith 7". Chuck was the default kid who would peddle these at the tables at places like the masquerade and at the wreck room. The hardcore scene in Atlanta was prety big at this time. Chuck still isn't sure what hardcore means other then a lot of jocks from high school would attend these shows and start fights.

In chucks first semester at georgia tech in the summer of 1994 two guys lived on chucks hall. They had all entered college under probation status because they were borderline students. Jeff Sousa who played in "Floor", Russell Jackson who played in "Quicksand", and Chuck Petrakopoulos who placed in "Batch of Gimps" and previously "Ten Two Four," and "Jenkins Ear."

Jeff Sousa thaught starting something called moodswing. At first it was a zine. Then it became a label. We would hang out at a little beat cafe called ying yang (once tunell visions) wearing cordoroy with a dude named reggie and go to dance night (MADHOUSE)at the reopened 688 wearing cowboy hats. Punk dudes would try to fight us because we werent punk. So wed piss in our own faces and they would leave. We put out Batch of Gimps, Spiney Norman, The Oswalds, Tach, The Tone Deaf Pig Dogs, during this era. Mostly pop punk kids all from the hight school days. Spiney was a reissue of their first seven inch since chuck and brian were playing with the guys. Chuck and Stubbs still hang out on occasion and pull nails out of 2x4's while listening to Guadal Canal Diary.

The moodswing enterage spent time at the Hampton House at Georgia Tech a couple of blocks away from gavins and ricks. These hustlers are still around today. We picked up floor, hell mach four, blue baby new year and more fire for burning people, and stinking lizavetta around 1995 and six.

There was a lot of touring an fewer records till about 1999. Probably due to the presence of the brady warehouse where Chuck, Russ, Brian Kinch, Paul T, a ghost, a uni-bomber/felon, and a dog with a learning disability lived next to the northside tavern close to where the compound is today. We had a recording studio and recorded lots of underground stuff. Before there were computers. Chukc managed to graduate Tech in 1999 while constantly living in the closet of a recording studio.

T Chesh, Russ, Rhett, and some fellows lived next door at Bill Smiths Howell Warehouses and a guy named James who rolled big bad warriors and played the music really fucking loud while playing the bongos. THe olympics came to atlanta around this time. Atlanta was changing.

This Era had bands like freemasonry, gai jin, galanas cerdd, soli deo gloria, clemente, five eight, all rocking the ones and twos. A comp called the compatability of dissonance was put out during some parties at this warehouse by a guy named sean mosely. He was a promoter type who really liked drive like jehu. Now he builds furniture, or houses or someithing like that.

Chuck, Russ, Rhett and JP backpack through europe for 2 months and on return move into the candler smith wareouses in the west end after Bill Smith recomends that we make the move to a more primitive environment after experiencing our livlihood. We were the first inhabitants of this commune along with brian k, paul t, tom chesh, marlo, dewayne, russ. Gavin started running stickfigure there. Then there were the c10 hippies and the c11 punks that really partied by night and ignored one another by day. This is the era of c-10, c-11, and c-12. A good writer needs to compile a book about the decline of a urban eutopian community and use this as a case study. It lasted till about 2002 raging, and till about 2005 in a more subdued existance. Russ and Chuck purchased some building next door to this mess in 2005 just to someday cherish the view from the roof of the west end. The best years of our lives were spent there. Gavin now runs stickfigure empire from one of these buildings.

The studio is now hidden off in a storage space in scottdale.

Moodswing will rise again.
